第2弾

一昨年（2002年）10月のバリ島で発生した爆発テロ事件。死者数は202人、日本人2名の方の尊い命もその犠牲となる大惨事でした。

　バリ島は、多くの日本人観光客で賑わう人気のリゾート地です。それも手伝って、事件直後から、バリ島や周辺の国々を旅行していた（と思われる）肉親の身を案じた御家族からの電話が外務省に殺到しました。私共も懸命に安否確認を行ったのですが、その中で最も難航したのは行き先や宿泊先を決めないで旅行していた方々の安否確認でした。何せ家族にも居所が分からないため、どこを探したらいいのか見当もつきません。

　外務省では国内の旅行会社を通じ旅行者の安否を調べ、現地の日本総領事館でも島内の全てのホテルの宿泊者名簿を確認しましたが、それでも家族から照会のあった方々全ての安否は依然として確認できません。

　結局は旅行者本人の帰国や無事の知らせが本人から家族のもとに届くのを待つしか手がなく、安否確認作業が終了したのは事件から1か月以上もたった後でした。（海外安全ホームページより）

In October 2002,a terrorism occurred in Bali and used a bomb.That was so serious that two hundred and two people including two Japanese people were killed in that.

Bali is so popular a resort that many Japanese people go there.So just after the terror occurred,many people called Ministry of Foreign Affairs because they were anxious for their family who seemed to travel in Bali or nearby Bali.Though we tried seriously to find them dead or alive,what we found the most difficult was to find some of them dead or alive who traveled without deciding where to go or where to stay.Even their family didn't know where they are.We have no idea where to look for them.

Though Ministry Of Foreign Affairs tried to find tourists dead or alive through domestic tourist company and Japanese Consulate General in Bali check all lists of all hotels in Bali which show people staying at there,we still didn't find all people their family were anxious for dead or alive.

Eventually,the last way to find them alive was to wait.When tourists got back to Japan or sent a letter or an e-mail which says they were safe,we can find them alive.And more than one month after the terror occurred,we found all of them dead or alive.

結構難しいもんだね。
